About Alpe d'Huez Ski Resort
Alpe D’Huez is the main resort in the Grand Rousses Massif, situated at a dizzying 1869 metres above sea level. It’s also one of the oldest ski resorts in France, founded in 1936. More British skiers are choosing Alpe D’Huez as their holiday destination because its own “Altiport” and with Grenoble Airport being only 90 minutes away, accessibility is easy and quick. Alpe D’Huez offers something to challenge all levels of skier. Two of the biggest attractions for the more advanced skier are the 2230m vertical drop and a 16km black run, which is the longest in Europe. Off-piste skiing is also excellent, with decent snowfalls, exceptional scenery and sunnier-than-average weather providing some of the most consistent conditions you will find in Europe. Alpe D’Huez is also situated on a fully south facing plateau, so you can enjoy up to 11 hours of sun a day in the latter months of the season. Alpe D’Huez boasts 245 km of immaculately groomed pistes, linked by 86 lifts, whisking you to satellite resorts of Vaujany, Oz, Villard-Reculas and Auris-en-Oisans and the Sarenne glacier at 3300 metres, guaranteeing you skiing back to the resort. The other major resort in the area, Les 2 Alpes is situated just across the valley and is included on the same lift pass, giving you the opportunity and accessibility to ski a completely different area as many times as you like!
