2012 Stunning Ski Resorts

Nothing is as beautiful as the snow when it falls. Better yet, nothing is as wonderful as flying down the side of a mountain at top speeds and feeling the wind through your hair. 2012 is gearing up to be a dynamic year for skiing. If you are an avid skier you will want to take advantage of what Mother Nature has to offer in a country so beautiful.

Cervinia, Italy

Cervina is part of the Matterhorn range and is bordered by some of the highest and most magnificent snow tops peaks. The reason cervina ski holidays are heading this years list as the snow conditions here just get better and better each year with some excellent powder, and then you have the long hours of sunshine means ng you can ski all day and into the evening and has very expansive open skiing with a wide variety of runs. You can get an area pass as well which means you can travel to Zermet in Switzerland for some more advanced skiing. Great après ski with night life for the adults and activities such as go karting for all.

Zermatt, Switzerland

If you are in the mood for snow, year round, one visit to Zermatt, Switzerland and you will be hooked. This is a top of the line resort. This resort is just more than snow and slopes; they have a snow park called Rotenboden. This area is exclusive for the snow boarders. They can do their half pipes with ease in this designated area. If you have kids who are not big enough for the slopes they have a kiddie area. This area has a very big igloo and a section called the tepee bar. So what about the slopes? The slopes are some of the greatest in the world. Their slopes are divided into Easy, Medium and Difficult. The easy slope is 18 km, the medium slope is 106 km and the difficult is 71 km. This is a must visit place for all avid skiers.

Aspen, Colorado

One cannot mention skiing and not mention Aspen, Colorado. This popular skiing site offers slopes for all skill types. If you want to mingle the slopes with the rich and famous, this is the place to be. Aspen offers it all, from amazing skiing to quaint shops and luxurious resorts. It is a paradise for skiers who like to ski by day and part at night. There are several slopes in this area including the Aspen highlands. This area has over 112 trails with the longest run being 3.5 miles. If you want a bit more of a challenge then try the Snowmass Ski Area. This resort features 83 trails with the longest being 5.05 miles long or 8.2km.

Chamonix Mount Blanc, France

Saving the best for last is Chamonix Mount Blanc. This is said to be the best skiing in the world. This village boasts 7 ski resorts. The lifts on these mountains are well noted, as they are featuring Europe’s highest cable cars. Situated in France, this town is just 15km from Italy and 15 km from the Swiss. Every day during the prime winter season, more than 60,000 tourists visit these grounds. An area stepped with history; you can ski during the day and see the sites at night. This is a place to recharge and forget responsibilities for a while. These beautiful slopes border the Swiss valley and overlook nature at its finest. With resort names like Grands Montets, Brévent / Flégère and Le Domaine de Balme, who would not want to ski here. Wherever you choose to go, 2012 looks like a promising year, when it comes to hitting the slopes.
